Students and staff across London South East Academies Trust’s schools have demonstrated their hard work and resilience today, posting an encouraging set of GCSE or equivalent qualification results.
After an extremely challenging year, with much disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, sustained improvement has been achieved across the board and some outstanding individual achievements made by many students. In the vast majority of our schools, 100% of students achieved a qualification in English and maths.
Over 100 young people across five of the Trust’s schools received GCSE or equivalent results today. Bromley Trust Academy and Horizons Academy (Bexley) offer Alternative Provision for children at risk of or who have been excluded from mainstream education while Bromley Beacon Academy, Endeavour Academy (Bexley) and Woodside (Bexley) offer special school provision for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and ASD respectively.
Each school stayed opened throughout this year’s lockdown period to support our vulnerable students, helping to ensure that no child was academically disadvantaged as a result of the pandemic. A robust programme of online and distance learning was also put in place for those pupils unable to attend during this time.

The effect of the pandemic on our students’ mental health and wellbeing has been stark – but their resilience and determination, as well as the fantastic support from staff, has shone through and they should all be congratulated.
“Teacher assessed grading has involved a monumental amount of work to ensure a robust and quality assured process. This has been done exceptionally well and staff have gone above and beyond once again.
“Every student receiving results today should be proud of their efforts and know that they have an exciting future ahead of them. I also thank every single member of staff who has worked so hard to support each student’s success.
We now look forward to building on this success and hopefully enjoying a more settled academic year ahead.”
